PeopleZen: Feedback Forum > Exception when filtering PeopleZen

Hi everybody,

I' running into a problem with PeopleZen in combination with FilterZen, when I want to filter a specific department.
The strange thing is that this happens in Internet Explorer 8 and Google Crome 13.0.782.215 but not which Firefox 6.0.

After I click on the filter button having selected one of the filter checkboxes I get the following error text displayed in the web part:
System.NullReferenceException: Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt.

bei roxority.Data.DataSourceConsumer.InFilter(DataSource ds, CachedRecord rec)

bei roxority.SharePoint.ProductPage.Elevate(CodeToRunElevated code, Boolean tryUnelevatedFirst, Boolean forceBoth)

bei roxority_RollupZen.RollupWebPart.Render(RollupWebPart wp, TextWriter tw, String textAreaID, String id, Int32 pageSize, Int32 pageStart, Int32 pageMode, Int32 pageStepMode, Int32 pageSkipMode, Boolean dateThisYear, Boolean dateIgnoreDay, Boolean filterLive, String properties, Boolean listStyle, Boolean allowView, Boolean allowSort, String sortPropName, Boolean sortDesc, String tabPropName, String tabPropOrig, String tabValue, String groupPropName, Boolean groupDesc, Boolean groupByCounts, Boolean groupShowCounts, Boolean groupInt, Boolean groupIntDir, Int32 rowSize, String tileWidth, Int32 nameMode, Int32 pictMode, Boolean presence, Boolean vcard, Int32 imageHeight, String loaderAnim, Boolean tabInt, Hashtable fht, Object l, String dsid, IDictionary dynInst)

Any idea?

We should be able to fix this given the in-depth details you gave us (thanks!) but first, can you verify FilterZen is at and PeopleZen is at You can see the full version number in the right-hand side bar of any one page linked under Site Settings / <Product>Zen Studio.

Were you able to reproduce the bug?
Is there a way for me to keep track of the bug issue so that I know when to update PeopleZen?

Ah sorry. Yeah we're still looking into this and will get back to you here with an update in 1-4 days.

Try the newest builds of *both* PeopleZen and FilterZen. Ideally the error should now go away or hopefully maybe at least we'll get a more meaningful error message now... let me know!

I'm sorry to tell you that after updating FilterZen and PeopleZen and triggering an IISRESET I still get the same error message in Internet Explorer and Chrome. It works in Firefox. I have tested it on different PCs with different SharePoint users.

Any ideas?

Does the problem also occur when you disable "AJAX-based live filtering" in the 'Filtering' section of your PeopleZen Web Part's settings tool-pane? (After having saved this change to the web part, be sure to fully-reload the page, ie. not just F5-refresh but completely renavigate-to-it.)

If you could email us exports of both Web Parts, ie. the FilterZen one and the PeopleZen one, via their respective web part menu / Export option, this might help us reproduce and fix the issue quickly.
