UploadZen: Feedback Forum > (401) Unauthorized
Hi Jason,
this is a well-known issue that we're still in the process of fixing. This has gotten quite a bit behind schedule unfortunately. The new ETA for this is mid-June.
Currently, before this situation gets fully fixed, it is like this:
- the problem will occur on ALL client Windows computers if the deployment guidelines have not been fully followed 100%
- if these guidelines HAVE been implemented, the issue will ONLY occur on Vista/Win7 clients with User Account elevation / UAC enabled (ie disabling this also gives you a temporary fix in most cases).
The all-new Silverlight-based UploadZen 3.0 will finally resolve this shortcoming. In the meantime, disabling UAC (see Google for details, plus a Win restart as usual) temporarily is the only work-around that is known to work.

A few more thoughts though:
I specifically checked anon access was set on http://192.168.0.17/_layouts/roxority_UploadZen/help/app/roxUp.application
Better set the entire app folder and all sub-folders and all files to anon access.
And I tried the preconfigured username/password in the anon access dialog
Are you saying you DID get a login prompt when trying to start UploadZen? I'm asking because so far the problem was precisely that IE and ClickOnce would fail to prompt users on the 401 and simply show a long error message.
That said, the 401 might go away if you set more to anon access than just the .application file. That's just a manifest for IE/ClickOnce instructing the additional files to download from IIS -- and those need to be anon too and they reside inside the app folder.

Thanks for your replies.
I only got the error described in this thread AFTER disabling User Account elevation. Before disabling it (and rebooting), I was getting the error in the other thread.
This is the new error which occurred after disabling UAC. Makes sense - you'll see this is a server side thing.
I did set http://192.168.0.17/_layouts/roxority_UploadZen/help and everything below it to anon access .. I just checked roxUp.application in particular when I saw the 401.
I did NOT get a login prompt when trying to start UploadZen.
kind regards .. Jason

The all-new Silverlight-based UploadZen 3.0 is really just around the corner (will go live around mid-June) and it will do away with most of this anon and IIS configuration so we won't actively track this down or troubleshoot this right now, since it will be deprecated a few days from now anyway. Sorry for the wait!

I'm unable to install the client. I'm running IIS 6, and followed the instructions about enabling anonymous access. And restarted IIS for good measure. I specifically checked anon access was set on http://192.168.0.17/_layouts/roxority_UploadZen/help/app/roxUp.application. And I tried the preconfigured username/password in the anon access dialog, as well as Administrator. Any ideas?
Attached is the log.
