Hello Support,

Can we print dispforms as well?

Kind regards,
Mario

Hello Support,

We have a custom dispform with the default dispform web part hidden.
It looks like only the hidden web part is printed and the other web parts are not.

Does the printzen print custom dispforms?

Kind regards,
Mario

Not currently, but we plan to build a "print any web part" feature for an upcoming release.

It also depends a great deal on how you customized it. If your custom disp form would properly load and initialize custom action providers, maybe exactly in the same way the built-in dispform does, then this might just work so much easier. How did you customize?

Hello Support,

I don't exactly understand what you mean. If you explain a little bit more we could think with you.

Whe have build the custom forms by adding dataviews and modified xslt.
In some cases we use the id of the container (table, web part, ..) to set the boundarie of the print.

Kind regards,
Mario

The misunderstanding may be because you're talking about the DispForm page while I'm talking about its DispForm Web Part.

Simple as that: if you can give us a 100% detailed, step-by-step (and I mean baby-step by baby-step) recipe of instructions for exactly how you customized your form, we should be able to perform such a customization ourselves in SharePoint Designer, and then see how to PrintZen-enable such a construction.

OMG. Ignore everything posted above. I now re-read your original query and the issue is a completely different one:

> We have a custom dispform with the default dispform web part hidden.
> It looks like only the hidden web part is printed and the other web parts are not.

This is because PrintZen is currently a Web Part printer, not a full Page printer. The print commands currently tell PrintZen to "recreate and display-for-print this List View, DispForm Web Part or PeopleZen Web Part".

> Does the printzen print custom dispforms?

Well in your case the issue is that PrintZen does not print the rest of your page, only the targeted Web Part. If this is hidden, I wonder how you got the print action to show up?

Anyway, a "Print Web Part page" feature is planned. For now all you can do is create the custom PrintZen Web Part page as described in the documentation / this forum. If your Data View is not "too dynamic" it might work.

Hello Support,

OK. Understand.

Question:
Is it possible to give the custom web part the "target identification" of the default dispform web part?
Or as we do:
Can your custom print action be "told" which "id" to print (table, web part)?

Kind regards,
Mario

Planned for a future release. Projected timeline is "asap".

PrintZen 1.3 is now available and allows printing of any Web Part via the Site Actions menu. Maybe this is a sufficient workaround for your issue here?
