PeopleZen: Feedback Forum > Suggestions for User Profiles Web Part

This User Profile webpart is great, but I was wondering if the
following is possible:

1. Formatting the list of profiles as a table, i.e. a Sharepoint list
with rows and columns, minus the photos... I really have no use for
them, but I have a lot of use for the MOSS profile importing feature
from Active Directory. Is is possible to display each user as a row? I
couldn't see any way of doing this via the Web Parts controls or
making alterations in the CSS, but maybe I'm not clever enough. Is
this possible to do without revising your code?

2. Once its in that list, grouping the profiles by office or
department, just as Sharepoint list views have a grouping feature.

If either of these things are possible without too much effort, I
could eliminate reams of printed 'Company Phone List' paper at my
company and save some trees in the process...

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Hi Kevin!

Thanks for these suggestions. #1 (user profiles as list views) is definitely on the roadmap for the 1.0 release. I'm not sure #2 (grouping) will make it in there, too, but we'll try!

Just to follow up, it took us a while but #1 is now finally being supported in version 1.3. For #2, you could use the built-in filtering feature as a first step until full-fledged grouping will be supported.

Another update: the newest 1.3 build now available supports grouping too!
