PeopleZen: Feedback Forum > User profiles across multiple farms
The question is how you "spread user data across multiple farms". If you have two SP farms pulling the same data from the same Active Directory into their respective SSPs using the same user profile import settings, then the same PeopleZen Web Part configurations should indeed absolutely give you consistent results. It's just crucial to keep in mind that at this point PeopleZen queries the SSP user profiles store, instead of talking to AD directly.
Best to see experimentally what the results are like and get back in touch if they're off --- we'll help you get there!

Hi,
What about Mysite photo & responsibility field ?
Both of these fields are not stored in AD.
The same user profile exists in both SSP, but not it's individual field.
For eg. if I updated responsibility field in SSP1 while it is left empty in SSP2.
What will PeopleZen show if I load the webpart in Farm2 (with SSP2) that displays my user profile's reponsibility field ?
We do however, enable Audience Targeting for Mysite. In this case, whenever i click MySite link, I will be redirected to the correct SSP that holds my Mysite.

There may be a way to sync this but currently PeopleZen is not the place for doing this kind of job.
So question might be "can PeopleZen be configured to display external SSP user profiles instead of the local ones"?
In the current release, it can't directly, but I believe you can "hook up" an external SSP to another SharePoint farm and indeed share the Shared Service Provider. On 2010 you can share service application proxies across multiple farms and this should include the User Profile Service Application. The administrative techniques for doing so can be researched on the web.

One more idea would be user profile replication using Microsoft's SharePoint 2010 Administration Toolkit.

Our production environment has user profiles split across two separate farms. Does the PeopleZen + FilterZen combination pull profile data from across multiple farms, into a single view/presentation?
For example, with the upcoming birthdays demo you have on the website, does that work properly when you have profile data spread across multiple farms?
