PeopleZen: Feedback Forum > Can I filter user by Sharepoint Group
Hi,
this can be done as follows:
Add a FilterZen Web Part to the same Web Part page as your PeopleZen Web Part.
In this Web Part, add a single User Filter that should have the name roxSiteGroups and otherwise be configured for user group memberships.
Afterwards, connect the FilterZen Web Part to the PeopleZen Web Part.
If you already have PeopleZen or FilterZen installed, re-download their newest builds before performing the above steps — we had to tweak their code to actually make this work.
Hope this helps and let us know if you run into any issues!

Thanks for the instructions here - I was able to get the FilterZen and PeopleZen web parts set up to display users in a SharePoint group.
However, I can't figure out how to control which SharePoint group is used. How do I configure the web part to specify which SharePoint group I want to show users for? I'd like to choose or enter a SharePoint group name within the web part settings pane (instead of via a URL or user-visible pick list, for example).
I tried choosing (Empty) for the default filter value, and entering the desired group name under Advanced Filter Properties in the fall back box, but that didn't seem to change the behavior.
What am I missing? We're using version 3.7 of FilterZen. Thanks!

Hi, unfortunately we haven't fully finalized all documentation on topics like this but what you want can be done.
So basically to show members of just one pre-defined user group is easy:
• connect a new FilterZen Web Part (for the sake of this exercise) to PeopleZen
• in the PeopleZen Web Part settings, scroll down to the Filtering section and un-check the Ajax-based live filtering check-box option
• in the FilterZen Web Part, no special settings are necessary. You need to create just one single Text Filter with the special name roxSiteGroups and as its default filter value, enter the display name of the user group to filter by, for example Team Site Owners or Viewers etc.
PeopleZen should now be pre-filtered accordingly!
If you get stuck with this at any point let me know.
Best regards,
Phil

That worked perfectly. Thanks!

Hi. I'm trying this, but getting inconsistent results.
I have connected the two web parts, set the filter name according to the description above, and set the default filter value to the name of a SharePoint Site Group. The group contains 8 members. I have set the paging option to '0', to disable paging.
The PeopleZen only displays 4 of the 8 members, right now. However, earlier it did display more, first 1, then 2, 4 and finally all 8, after some time and page refreshes. But now, I'm back to 4 and that does not seem to change.
Is there any caching going on, or something like that?
Thomas
Do you get this behavior for all other SharePoint groups too (when testing them in your filter) or just this one?

The People web part looks great.
But can I use it to dispaly user defined in a specific Sharepoint Group?
Thanks
