FilterZen: Feedback Forum > Filter 2nd List Lookup Filter choices from value selected in first List Lookup Filter
Hi Steve, interesting scenario!
This should be possible. I'll indeed need some clarification here. Right now, I'm not sure about your Web Part setup. Do you have two List Lookup Filters inside a single FilterZen Web Part, or do you have two of those? How are they connected (to all List Views or just to some?), and is the Customer List View also a connection provider to the Projects List View, in addition to any FilterZen connections you may have in place?

Hi,
I am glad to hear that this might be possible. The main list is a customer list, and then there is a project list that contains a lookup to the customer. We then have a few task lists, document libraries, calendars, and contact lists that all contain a lookup to the customer and sometimes the project as well. We have this worked out using a cascading lookup field from Sharepoint Boost.
I would like to push the customer out to a few of the web parts on the page, such as the contact list, and the project out to several others, such as the task list. So I thought it might be best to have two FilterZen webparts. I would have the user select the customer and then have the page auto refresh to the second FilterZen that contains the project with only projects associated with the customer on that page. I have tried it, and I can see that the second FilterZen is receiving the correct customer, but I am unable to get the second FilterZen dropdown to filter out the projects that are not associated. I am not opposed to only having one FilterZen with the two dropdowns as long as I can push the customer to some of the webparts on the page and the project to the others. I can send you screen shots of the page if that would help.
Thanks
Steve

Thanks for explaining -- will get back to you on that shortly!

Hi Steve, we have something for you. You'll need to re-download and re-install the newest build of FilterZen now available for download, but you don't have to rebuild your Web Part Page, just keep the Web Parts as they are, clear your browser cache and iisreset after the upgrade.
When you previously "sent" a value from one FilterZen to another FilterZen, this couldn't possibly work because so far FilterZen acted as a connection consumer only in order to get the "selected filter group" (a feature that is in itself not relevant for this thread).
However, the newest build will also act as a connection consumer in another way, namely not only to "Get Filter Group from" but now also to "Get Filter Values From".
Your scenario is indeed quite intricate and while now doable with this new feature addition, the most time-efficient way for both of us to figure out how to implement what you need would be for you to email us a screenshot of your page setup, ideally in Page Edit mode, with the Filter Web Parts removed. I'll then give you instructions for how to interconnect your various FilterZen and List View Web Parts.

I have a situation where I would like to filter several web parts on a page by a customer list, and then another set of web parts by projects associated with that customer. So my first list has the customers and the second list is a project list that has a lookup field to the customer. Is there a way to select the customer in the first "List Lookup Filter" and then have it reduce the projects in the second "List Lookup Filter" to only those associated with the selected customer? Let me know if you need me to clarify at all. I know this can be done with the "out of the box" features of Sharepoint, but it seems so much cleaner with the dropdown lists. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Steve
PS love the capabilities of this web part!
