FilterZen: Feedback Forum > Does it work with Dataview web parts?
Data View Web Parts are fully supported. As you may have noticed, in Page Edit mode, the Filter Web Part provides numerous instructions, hints and notices. When connected to Data View Web Parts, there will be even more of those. Read them carefully whenever you encounter them and this plus a bit of experimentation will go a long way!
And if you get stuck, just get back to us here, of course! :)

When I try to connect your web part to the dataview web part the only 2 options I get is: "Get filter Value from" and "Get Parameter From" but I need "Send value to"! Please help.

You can't "send values" from the Data View to FilterZen -- only from FilterZen to Data View.
Hence your DVWP menu will have "Get Filter Value from" and "Get Parameter From" and the FilterZen menu will have "Send Filter Values to" etc.

That is what I am doing: on your FilterZen wp I click Connections > Send Values as filter to - then select my DVWP. I then get a popup "Choose Connection" select the connection type in a drop down box. The only 2 option I then get is "Get filter Value from" and "Get Parameter From" ! Can we have a telephone or skype conversation please?

Sure, feel free to call us. But consider this:
in that pop-up you get to choose the DVWP connections to use as the RECEIVER for the FilterZen connection you already chose as the PROVIDER.
It may not be glaringly obvious to you at first but you'll want to pick "Get Filter Value from" here.
I assure you that giving it a try won't do any harm...

In fact the pop-up will say "Choose the connection type for xyz", xyz being the name of your DVWP. Since the DVWP doesn't send filters but only receive them, it is pretty logical that you are being offered those choices.

I need to filter a Dataview web part. Will it work or does it only work on list view web parts?
