FilterZen: Feedback Forum > Start off empty and select all choices with (All) checkbox

Hello,

We have a lookup which starts off empty but the (All) checkbox is still selected.
What we want is to have it unchecked and when checked All items are shown.

Please advice,
Mario

Hi Mario,

"What we want is ... when checked All items are shown"

For this, make sure Send filter value even if empty check-box option is un-checked.

The value of the "(All)" choice is always empty. If the above option is checked, it doesn't change the value of that choice but its label --- to "(None)".

You could also experiment with the "on-empty fallback filter value" option (also discussed here) and see where this takes you. If all of those options and combinations don't help your specific requirements, please get back to us and we'll consider this for a future version.

Hello,

OK. So when I check the "Send filter value even if empty" then I get zero results which is what I want and I get the label "(None)" allready checked. But then there is no "All" checkbox in the choices. I have to check all the choices one by one to get all of the results.
I cannot "create" a "All" checkbox?

Kind regards,
Mario

Hi Mario,

looks like we'll have to add support for that for the next update.

Hi Mario,

the newest build is now available for download. FilterZen now offers, at the bottom of the Interactive Filters section, a new check-box option Emulate Search behavior: show no results in the consumer Web Part until filters get explicitly sent by the user. This should help you in achieving the required behavior.

We don't really now how this feature works.
But basically it does not cover the request of a "All choices" button.

Kind regards,
Mario

Hi Mario,

the idea with this feature is that NO results get shown until the first time the user clicks the 'Filter' button. Then whatever he chose gets shown. If he kept the default (All) selection, that should get shown.

How is this not working for you?

Hello,

First of all we do not use the "filter" button but we use the option "Upon user input, immediately reload the page to re-filter"
And secondly:
We want to fire off the list with a default filter.
And secondly make some choices available where the user should be able to select "All" choices.

I understand that with this feature the list really starts off empty.

Can we chat with teamviewer so I can ask you some questions?

Kind regards,
Mario
